It’s been a rough couple of years for all of us but with the help of our ZiZZOs we have made it through 2021! When things get tough, the tough get pedaling right? I could go on and on about how riding has helped many of us physically and mentally. For some of us, being outdoors somehow feels a little more carefree and safer while being with friends. Riding my ZiZZO folding bike alone is fine too, but riding together keeps me socially engaged with actual living and breathing humans and not just looking at pictures of them on a screen on my phone or PC.
As I look down at my calendar and notice the year 2022 stare back at me, it made me smile thinking that for some reason... many of us decide to start something that we probably could have started 6 months ago as a “New Year’s Resolution.” But that’s O.K., it’s just kind of what we do! Staying healthy, maybe getting in better shape, paying off some bills, are the standard resolutions, but I think we can get a little more creative using our ZiZZOs!
Long Distance ZiZZO Ride 
What's the furthest you have gone in one ride on your ZiZZO? Maybe challenge yourself to push your own personal limits for the new year? Let’s see if we can go just a little bit further? Sometimes planning a roundtrip ride with a fun lunch spot at the halfway point can help make the miles tick away knowing that you will be able to refuel and take a break. The journey is half the fun!
ZiZZOs are very comfortable bikes - I've spent many hours in their saddles doing photo and video while riding them. I can go as far as my fitness and a little planning takes me. My personal longest ride on my road bike was 114 miles. Should I attempt that on my ZiZZO to see if I can do it? Hmm...let me think about it. June 21st is summer solstice and with all that daylight that could be a good date to choose. Maybe with a little more training I might be able to attempt it. Worst case scenario: I get stuck out on a long ride. I can always call an Uber right?
Travel to New Places 
With the ability to fold up a ZiZZO and get on a bus, train, or a boat, it is really easy to travel to some new places and explore. Sometimes new roads and areas can add a spark to your riding experience. You don’t even have to go far. Sometimes within less than 50 miles you can find little gems with interesting places and people to discover.
Of course, I would love to travel abroad, but that’s most likely not possible for me in 2022. So, taking some “staycations” might be in the plans! I know I haven’t scratched the surface of places to ride and visit in my own state, so most likely I will do a little research and stay local. It’s also a good way to support my local small businesses by keeping my spending in our community.
I must admit I do dream of riding in Switzerland, Northern Italy, and France someday... maybe 2023?
Multi-Day Bikepacking 
Who wants to pack up a bike full of bags, tent, camping food, and sleeping bag to have a little adventure? I’m raising my hand. Yes, I do! I have not camped for “real” in over 30 years but the thought of riding my ZiZZO somewhere and setting up a tent and enjoying the outdoors sleeping under the stars inspires me.
I don’t think I will be trying anything crazy to start, but I have a few places in mind. I would love to go somewhere remote... but I need a little experience first. With the ability to do gravel and road I know the ZiZZO Urbano or black Forte will be a great choice! Depending on the terrain, I’m sure the gearing will work out just fine, but with the extra weight from the bags I don’t mind doing some “hike a bike” up steeper sections. There is no shame pushing the bike up a steep hill!
Well, that’s a few goals for 2022. I think those are reasonable. Well, maybe the 100+ mile ride doesn’t sound too reasonable... but you might as well go big or go home as they say! I might have to go home in a Lyft or Uber if needed (no worries, my folded ZiZZO will fit in the trunk 😊).
