ZiZZO Trainer Tips and suggestions

by Tony Reyes on February 19, 2020

Congratulations on your new trainer! And, if you have not picked up your trainer or are considering one, thank you for considering the ZiZZO Indoor Trainer!

Using a trainer is just like riding a bike normally except you do not have to contend with weather, crowds or balance. Indoor trainers allow you to extend your riding season into the colder months without the hassles normally associated with winter riding.

When using a trainer indoors, however, there are a few considerations you should take into account.

  • Setting up: Check out our video on setting up your trainer. Make sure you set up your trainer on a stable and level surface.
  • When riding indoors, you do not have the breezes/wind that help to cool you down when riding outdoors. To remedy this, set us a fan to help cool you down.
  • Stay hydrated! Just because you're indoors, doesn't mean you're not working out! Just like riding outdoors, make sure to drink plenty of fluids.
  • Speaking of fluids: What goes in must come out. In this case: sweat. Sweating is a normal part of exercising. With the indoor trainer, a fan will help to minimize sweating, but placing a mat or towel under your trainer and bike will help to keep the sweat off your floor or carpet.
  • Also, because you're indoors, you will notice just how "dirty" riding a bike may be. Placing a mat under your trainer and bike will help to catch tire and brake dust.
  • Finally, consider getting a tire dedicated to using on a indoor trainer is a great idea. Picking up a tire that has NO TREAD (like a road bike tire tread) will make you ride MUCH more smooth and quiet. Also, a "harder" tire will wear better than a softer tire.
Is this NoRmAl???
The answer is YES! Simply using some window cleaner or rubbing alcohol should clean it up. But why clean it if it's just going to get dirty again???
A clean roller will prevent excessive wear on your tire ;-)

Thank you for choosing ZiZZO Bikes!
