A new Oakland mural is celebrating Olympic figure skating champion Alysa Liu, transforming a neighborhood wall into a vibrant tribute to one of the Bay Area’s hometown stars. Created by the local artist collective The Illuminaries, the large piece of Oakland street art in the Temescal neighborhood highlights Liu’s historic achievements and the strong connection she maintains with the community where she grew up. For ZiZZO, supporting the mural was a natural fit. The company, now headquartered in Union City just down Highway 880 from Oakland, has deep local roots and was formerly located in Oakland.
As a brand centered around compact folding bikes designed for urban environments, ZiZZO believes vibrant cities are shaped not only by how people move through them, but also by the creativity and culture that bring neighborhoods to life.

Located at the corner of 43rd Street and Temescal Avenue, the mural features Liu proudly holding her Olympic gold medal. Green and gold tones surround the portrait, along with the words “Shoutout Oakland,” reflecting the pride the city feels for an athlete who has always represented her hometown. Born in Richmond and raised in Oakland, Liu has become one of the country’s most recognizable young athletes. Her Olympic success and vibrant personality have inspired fans across the Bay Area and beyond.
By supporting The Illuminaries and their work, ZiZZO is proud to help celebrate both local Bay Area artists and a hometown champion, highlighting the creativity and community spirit that make Oakland unique.
